5 - Is it safe to use my credit card number on-line?
The answer is yes. We are using a secure server, which means your numbers are safe to use. You will see a small lock at the bottom of your browser when you access the area to sign up. This is a safe guard that the browser companies like Netscape and Microsoft Internet Explorer have implemented for secure reasons. They make sure that you the customer knows when it is safe or not. They can not be fooled. An open lock means it is not safe to give your information. If you're using Internet Explorer double click the lock to see the certificate for our secure server. If using Netscape click the lock and view the certificate.

9 - Can I use the cost of taking the classes as a tax write off?
If these classes are a prerequisite for continued professional growth for your job updating, then your receipt is tax deductible. In your case it would be a deduction, as the hours are required to keep your license.

13 - How do I keep track of the tests I have taken?
In the members area you will see the tests that are available for purchase. Once you have ordered a test it will show in the "Purchased Tests" area. Remember that once you have taken the test it will not be available for purchase again and can not be taken again. This is why it is very important for you to study the "Study Notes" and answer the questions before logging in to the members area and taking the test.

You may also click the Account Info button to view your tests results.

14 - I am from Alberta, how does it work for us?
For Alberta agents who wish to purchase tests you should read over the information on the "Course Link" to see which tests are available for the license you hold. Once you join Need Hours you will purchase your tests the same way as other members. Just keep in mind the approval of the Alberta Insurance Council for the license you hold. The tests listed are for various license. You are required to obtain only 15 hours regardless of the different licenses you hold. So please check over the approval for your licence.

15 - How do I download the tests study notes?
You can do it a couple of different ways. If you are using Internet Explorer you can right button mouse click the "Study Notes" link beside the test you have purchased and choose "Save Target As" and save it to a folder/directory of your choice. Using Netscape Navigator you can right mouse button click and "Save Link Target As" and save it to a folder/directory or your choice.

You may also just click the "Study Notes" beside the test you have purchased and when Adobe Acrobat opens you can print it from the screen. You may also save the file from within Adobe Acrobat.

We think saving the file is a good idea, as you may misplace your print out. If you save it you can print it out again if need be. Remember you can only purchase and take the test one time only.

It is really a matter of what kind of internet connection you have as to how fast you can download the tests. As soon as you purchase a test you can download it and print it out and take as much time as you need to answer it. Log into the members area at any time and "Take Test". Your results will be given to you as soon as you finish the test. Please print out the page with your results for your records.
The sickness and disability you refer to is under Accident&Sickness.

21 - I am an agent from Alberta how often can a test be taken online. If an agent takes a 1 hour class can that class be repeated again next year?
There is nothing in the Regulation which states a course cannot be taken over and over again but, that does defeat the purpose and essence of the Continuing Education program. Although there is nothing in the Regulation at present, the AIC may approach the government if there seems to be an abuse or problem in this area.
